What services do you offer?
Study Wizards offers private in-home tutoring for mainstream, honors, and special needs students — K–12, as well as adult students in math, reading, writing, science, Spanish, and ESL. We also provide expert test-prep tutoring for the SAT and ACT tests.
Additional programs include tutoring for study skills and if you wish, Study Wizards will design an individualized learning program, so that your child can enjoy a variety of educational, enrichment, and fun activities during the summer.
How does scheduling work with your tutors?
Our tutors will work with you to arrange tutoring sessions. We are flexible to your scheduling needs. Please discuss your scheduling preferences with the Study Wizards academic director to ensure that the tutor you are matched with meets your availability.
How frequent are the tutoring sessions?
Typically, your tutor will meet with your student from one to three times a week — however, this is flexible depending on your student’s needs. The tutoring sessions usually run 1 to 2 hours for older students and 1 hour for younger students. The minimum session length is 1 hour.
II Our Tutors
How does Study Wizards screen tutors?
We use a rigorous selection process to screen our candidates. In addition to their academic credentials and subject-matter expertise, they must have a proven track record of successfully tutoring students; our candidates are assessed on their teaching, mentoring, and communication skills, along with their academic credentials and experience. Candidates must pass all of the following steps to become a Study Wizards tutor: a detailed written questionnaire, a phone interview, and a face-to-face interview followed by a reference and background check.
What are your tutors’ qualifications?
Study Wizards tutors have demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a passion for helping students learn and achieve their potential. Many are graduates of top universities, including Stanford and UC Berkeley, with strong expertise in their subject areas. All must have extensive tutoring and/or teaching experience, and many have teaching credentials.
How will you match a tutor with my child?
In a free initial consultation with our academic director, Michael Goldstein, he will review with you your concerns and your student’s needs, goals, and learning style; and he’ll match your student with an outstanding tutor.
How do I stay informed about my student’s progress?
Your tutor, along with our academic team director, will provide you with regular feedback on your student’s progress; and we strongly encourage your ongoing comments too.
