Take all the opportunities you can to speak the new language you are learning. Speak with others in the new language as much as possible and if you are taking a class contribute as much as possible. Also, listen to everything you can in the language including films, television, radio and audiobooks.

Fear can be obstacle to learning. You’re not going to be perfect the first time. It takes time and practice to learn a language.

Instead, emphasize the words and phrases you do know and look for contextual clues such as gestures and facial expressions to help you understand what is being said.
